The name “Cassis” is not pronounced like the fruit! Here, it’s pronounced “Cass-i”, without the final “s”. It’s a nod to the identity of the people of Cassis. The port has also preserved a rare tradition: that of the pointus, the small painted wooden fishing boats that are the local pride.
