Access regulations: Calanques and Massifs Preserving beauty, respecting the rules

A jewel... but fragile

The Calanques de Cassis and the surrounding massifs are part of an exceptionally rich protected natural area. In summer, the risk of fire is high and visitor numbers are high, so access is regulated to protect both nature and visitors.

The Calanques National Park welcomes over 2 million visitors every year.

Did you know?

The Parc national des Calanques is unique in Europe, combining land, sea and peri-urban areas. It is home to rare species such as Bonelli’s eagle, the great mother-of-pearl and the Posidonia meadow. Every off-trail step, every cigarette butt, every trampled leaf endangers this delicate balance.

Summer regulations (1 June to 30 September)

  • Prior booking for access ONLY to the SUGITON cove in Marseille.
  • Sormiou, Morgiou and Callelongue: Roads closed to traffic at weekends before and after the season and every day in high season.
  • Access to the Calanques National Park is restricted from 1 June to 30 September.

Preserving the Calanques means prolonging their beauty. Thank you for being part of the solution.
