  • Aperitif tastings facing the sea

In Cassis, wine is a reflection of the village: discreet, elegant and deeply alive.

An exceptional vineyard

At Cassis, the vines stretch all the way down to the Mediterranean. Cultivated in terraces, this confidential vineyard is one of the oldest in France to have obtained the Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée, in 1936.

  • 10 estates
  • 215 hectares
  • 85% organic or in conversion

The Cassis vineyards are planted exclusively in the commune of Cassis, an “urban vineyard”. Sheltered by Cap Canaille, the highest maritime cliff in France, plunging almost 400 metres into the Mediterranean, it is fully integrated into the Calanques National Park.

The special ecosystem and unique microclimate of Cassis are very favourable:

  • It suffers little from the mistral wind, which calms its ardour across the pine-covered hills.
  • The sea breeze keeps the vines healthy thanks to healthy humidity
  • 3,000 hours of sunshine a year, which helps the grapes to blossom and become rich in sugar.
  • Rainfall in early spring gives the vines an early start, then in autumn helps to regenerate the parched soil.

Cassis wines are the fruit of both traditional techniques and the very latest winemaking processes. The grapes are harvested by hand to ensure the best possible selection, then transported in small containers.

Did you know?

Cassis is the first coastal vineyard in France to be classified as an AOC. Vines have been grown here since ancient times. The Greeks, then the Romans, were already producing wine on the same terraces as today.

Cassis whites, star of the appellation

Here, white wine is king: mineral, fresh and iodised. It develops aromas of citrus fruit and white flowers.

They are best enjoyed young, but gain in roundness with age. The perfect accompaniment to seafood, they express all the elegance of the terroir and the Mediterranean.

A committed culture

  • 85% of vines are organic or in conversion
  • Hand labour and early harvesting
  • Preservation of listed landscapes and biodiversity

The vineyards can be visited all year round. Spring offers soft light and lush green landscapes, summer invites you to enjoy tastings at the end of the day, and autumn allows you to enjoy the atmosphere of the grape harvest and warmer colours.
