The Calanque of En-Vau

En-Vau, the pearl of the Calanques

Sandwiched between two immense limestone cliffs, the Calanque d’En-Vau with its small pebble ‘beach’ offers a spectacular natural spectacle. It’s the picture-postcard landscape par excellence… Its turquoise waters, clear pebble beach and majestic silence make it one of the most spectacular in the Mediterranean. Many films and documentaries have been filmed here, drawn by its dramatic beauty. En Vau is a ‘wild’ Calanque, accessible on foot or by sea, a real reward for those who venture there.

En-Vau means “in the hollow” or “at the bottom of the valley” in Provençal. The site is also one of the most popular in Europe for rock climbing, with vertiginous walls above the water accessible from the surrounding paths.
