The shop

Located in the harbour of Cassis, the Tourist Office shop welcomes residents of Cassis and tourists looking for a gift or souvenir from Cassis. Magnets, postcards, books, bags, crockery, clothing, beach towels – there’s no shortage of ideas. The Tourist Office prioritises the sale of products that give the shop its distinctive character and, where possible, a range of products made in the region or in France. Items illustrating the town’s Provençal motto, attributed to Frédéric Mistral:

‘Qu’a vist Paris, se noun a vist Cassis, pou dire: n’ai rèn vist’, which means ‘Whoever has seen Paris, if they haven’t seen Cassis, may say: I’ve seen nothing’.

There are items to suit all budgets, ranging from €2 to €165. Accepted payment methods include cash, debit cards and holiday vouchers.

Books

The collection of guidebooks has been expanded with two new hiking guides for the Calanques. The ‘Aix-en-Provence–Marseille’ guide features hikes in the Calanques as well as walks in the surrounding area, making it a practical guide not only for tourists but also for local residents. The photo book * Cassis d’antan*, which contains old photographs of Cassis, is very popular with the town’s residents.

The recipe book *La cuisine de Provence* is also one of the bestsellers that highlights the culinary richness of this region. Provence evokes in all of us the song of the cicadas, the scents of the garrigue in summer, and the shores of the Mediterranean. When it comes to food, aioli, fried panisse, stuffed courgette flowers, bouillabaisse, pistou soup and the 13 Christmas desserts immediately spring to mind…
